oh, I am in love...

With my sweet little nieces.  I am so grateful that they are here to visit and that their parents decided to STAY for longer than two days, and that I am off work right now so that I may spend loads of time with them and eat them up and soak them in and love love love them.  Their sweetness and smallness has inspired a lot of poetry to spring from heart and onto paper, written for ALL the wonderful children in my life.  I love kids.  I love that they are so untainted my adulthood, innocent but wise, sweet but sassy, so intuitive and so curious to know how things work.  Watching these little minds at work is fascinating to me, and I am grateful that my girl is able to have this time with them because in a year or two she may not be into hanging out with little toddlers.  Right now though, she soaks them up too and spends all her time entertaining them like the older cousin she is.  Reminds me a lot of myself when I was her age.

Life is fantastic in this way.

But still there are some bumps I am working out with regard to my brother.  I am trying to figure him out and figure out my boundaries with him.  I have boundaries, I need to have boundaries with him, but my boundaries are conflicting with that habit of mine to please all others in place of pleasing myself.  My boundaries are about creating a safe place for my own family...however that people pleasing habit of mine wants none of that.  Conflict.  Will I ever live with out this internal struggle?
Doubtful.  I hope that it just gets easier to manage as I grow and develop the wisdom which comes with the onslaught of aging.  Tee hee.

Today is a day to sort out some financial, clerical stuff and hopefully get the ball rolling on the insurance appeal.  Then some house sorting: need to straighten this place up so I can have some internal peace!  And of course, I will carve out a small space for art and creation.
Almost forget to mention that my morning will be punctuated with a meeting with the awesome Deborah and this time we are on even ground.  We are meeting for coffee, in the same way that old friends do when they need to catch up.  I am so honored that she would want to do that.  Giggle.  I am tickled and excited.

Today will be a day to be courageous and strong.  To honor my boundaries and keep them erect.  Because its the right thing to do.
Today is a day to keep on keeping on.
