I can write a blog: I have thoughts.

Blogging began as a method of therapy for me at a time when I was seriously broken.  It was a way for me to empty out the pain in my heart and turn it into joy. It was a way for me to write with courage and truth and get comfortable with the notion that one day people I had never met would read my words and something would connect for them.  That in itself gave me a release and a path to healing because I knew, deep down, that sharing my story would not only help me heal but could help others as well.
This week, I have experienced this shared healing and I think my life is coming full circle, somehow.
At the core of my being I am a thinker.  I think, I dream, I contemplate, I imagine.  When this action is released through the creative avenue of writing down my thoughts, or sketching out the beauty I see in the world, my soul sighs and my body thrums with the energy of the Universe.

I feel alive.

Now, blogging is my method of clearing out the clutter of my mind.  There are days when I am so full of thoughts, ideas, inspiration and touching moments that my whole being vibrates, and my brain feels like shutting down for the overload.  Blogging helps me sort out the important stuff and mark it down.
This has ultimately led me to the notion that my blog is now a legacy of my mind, my heart and my soul.  This is my virtual journal open for the world to see, and left for those who love me to always have a way to connect to me when we can't be together.

Because sometimes, these words just don't come through in the everyday conversations of life.
Sometimes, for me especially, these intimate thoughts only make sense when they are pulled out from my mind by my fingers on the keypad, or the by my pen on the journal page.  That is when these thoughts become words that string together an idea coherent and complete.

Because sometimes, the act and sound of speaking them out through my vocal chords, creates a confusion and a frustration and perhaps, a watered-down version.  Perhaps speaking the thoughts, for me, is a way to gloss over the whole idea, while writing them out allows a constant flow of whole-ness to come through.  Written thoughts just flow like rain, fast, furious and powerful, turning off only when they are spent.  Spoken thoughts are more like a faucet, coming through a controlled vehicle that can be altered to flow as slow or fast as the speaker desires.  To stop when the speaker wants, even if there is more to empty out.

I would be lying if I told you I didn't love to blog.  Even if the only readers of these words are me and my family.  This is what works for me.  This is what helps me feel connected to my true Self.  My intuition, my creative force.  Me.
I blog because I have thoughts that crave expression.

I would love to know what blogging has done for you.  Do you love it?   Does writing help you make better sense of the world?  Let me know what drives you to write your blog.  I am ever inspired by the amazing fellow bloggers I have come across on this journey.

Have a wonderful weekend.

  1. I blog because I like having a space that feels like my own, that I can share with others. I also like knowing that what I write has the ability to make others happy. Knowing that others relate. It let's me know that we're not alone.
