Spring-time for hope.

Recently I concluded that spring is my favorite time of year.
When I was younger, I really loved summer--of course--because we had time off from school and we vacationed.  Life was easy and warm and full of ice cream.
As an adult, I still love summer.  I love the freedom of the days and the ability to seek out adventure in nature.
Then, over the past few years, I became fond of fall and winter.  I love that the world heads into a hibernation of sorts, slowing, calming, snuggling together to stay warm.

But, recently I realized that spring is my favourite because spring is full of hope.  It is all about growth and possibility.  About new beginnings and fresh starts.  It is brilliance and rebirth.  Reinvention and brightness.  But mostly, it's about hope.  It shows us that no matter what the wind storms stir up, break apart and let drift to sea, a new day full of sunshine and new promise is dawning on the near horizon.
To celebrate the season of hope, I share these words with you, which found me one day last week and forced themselves into my sketch book.

HOPE

With hope
there's more yes than no
more light than dark
more clarity than dust.

With hope
there's more can than can't
more do than don't
more courage than fear

With hope
there's more fly than fall
more stand than sit
more smile than tears

With hope
there's more
bravery
love
compassion
fortitude
magic.

With hope
there's more.

Peace to you.

  2. Yes, Hope is your word. I am so glad that my words found a place in your heart. So. Awesome.
Hope is for me a word that brings about sunshine. Some people don't look at hope that way though, and my wish with these words was to illustrate how hope is more about goodness and less about just "wishing against reality". If that even makes sense. Anyway. Thanks for your kind words.
