Yesterday.

Yesterday I tried to publish a post I had pre-written last week all about the cool and profound things I have been doing recently.  I loaded up some photos, tried to arrange them in proper sequence and somehow I clicked some kind of weird task that sent one photo into giant mode, taking over the whole post and erasing all the text!!??
I don't know.
Some crazy flux in the universe, or me just showing off my amateur geek skills.
Anyway, it pissed me off at first because the text, the words, the idea, were all really great and something I wanted to have stored in a memory bank other than my overloaded brain.  Then, I got over it, decided to vent and move on.
So I did.
I went into my studio and became ultra productive and ultra OFFLINE.
I switched on the tunes, switched off the signal and fought it out with a piece of art I have been struggling with for months.
And you know what?
We made peace.
The barn owl I have been working on (FOREVER) since fall is so close to completion, I can barely contain my excitement.
And: She is lovely.

Never fret though.  I haven't been remiss to the symbolism of these moments.

Barn owls represent the connection between heart and mind.  When these are in discord, harmony cannot abound.
I realized I was too much in my mind about how to work the piece.  I was too literal and not loose.  Too much thought, not enough feeling.
So I looked at her and these words came to me:
"Fly me to the magic moon on paper wings of hope."

So then, I added some old book pages over the wings that I had already painted about three thousand times, covered them in mysterious black paint and re-sketched their shape.  Then, while having a heart to heart with an old friend, I painted her magical paper wings and infused them with hope.  At the end of the phone conversation, that sweet girl was full of the stuff that powers us to the sky.

Hope.  Magic.  Love.  Light.

And then I finished another painting.  A crow.  A crow that is soaring through change and holding his head to the sky.  A crow that has been through the firestorm of chaos and has emerged with more beauty than pain.
Sigh.

I suppose this is the place where I express my gratitude for the hiccup of my day which bent my brain towards a very productive afternoon full of goodness.  Thank you internet & thank you technology.  Sometimes I need you to piss me off enough to get the fires burning.  And sometimes that feels damn good.

*When I am ready, both pieces will be displayed here for you to see.
