PHOTO A DAY MAY

PEACE.

I have decided to jump back into Fat Mum Slim's photo a day challenge for the month of May.  I did February and part of March, but gave up in April because I found I was feeling so guilty for not following along each day like you're supposed to.  It was a challenge to keep up with it considering my life is already full of activity, to-do lists and unexpected uprisings of the familial kind.

BUT.

That one little word in bold Helvetica type at the top of this text is the reason I chose (or, perhaps you could say, it chose me) to jump back in.

I took a shot of the word PEACE around two weeks ago at a local abandoned church.  My husband, daughter and pup went out for a cruise around and when we arrived there, on the ground was a hand painted sign leaning up against the foot of the church which said: PEACE.  I found it to be beautiful, poignant and somewhat ephemeral that a person or persons decided to set that message there for others to see.  Peace be to all who come to check out this historical landmark which is now a meeting place for inebriated weekenders and families out for a cruise or photographers looking for a cool back drop.

PEACE.

When Fat Mum Slim sent her list for May out on her twitter feed and I saw that PEACE was the first shot, I knew there was a necessity for me to participate.
Whatever the reason may be that Universe has brought this challenge to me and I have accepted is still to be seen.  What I do know for sure is that I love to capture imagery and share it with others.  I love to see beauty and document it; whether it be through the lens of my camera, through the written word, or through a paint brush set on canvas.  I am artistic and creative and I see things others do not.  That is something I want to hone in on.  Focus on.  Be brave with.

I decided I will manage the stress of the daily task by following my own rules.  If I can't take a shot daily, I will pull something out of archive of photos.  Lord knows I have a plethora of those: RIGHT HONEY? *wink wink.
AND: THE KICKER.  I know I have told you that I recently purchased Photoshop CS 5 and I am DETERMINED to learn how to play with it, SOOO, part of the shots I share will also be demonstrating what I have learned or made mistakes with on photoshop.  I think this is going to be fun!!!

I hope you will follow along here or on my twitter feed and maybe try it yourself, also.  It is a good thing to flex our creative muscles from time to time.

  1. I beat myself up sometimes for not capturing the photo each day. Silly, eh? So glad you're participating again!
