My favourite morning ritual is to sit with my coffee and smoothie and read my twitter and blog reader feeds. I love to catch up on the people I have chosen to follow and see what they are up to. Then I like to compose my own blog article for the day or days to come depending on the timeframe I have.
This week things have been quite different as I am on holidays from work and have devoted the entire twelve days to taking my 7 year old out and about to local spots for adventure and fun in the sun.
Well, we're at the mid way point today and I am currently hiding in the bathroom so I can write this post.
I want to honour my commitment to spending the days with her, but also feel I need to share a bit about life right now, documenting the way the week has gone.
Crazily enough, this week I decided to start a new eating routine that follows the weight watchers points system (loosely) and so far I am feeling pretty good. Lots of vegetables, fruits and proteins are going into my body and although I am feeling hunger, I know this is an adjustment period that my stomach will get used to and soon I will b on track. I let myself go off the proper eating track last summer when I left my job on a medical stress leave (read: anxiety induced depression) and decided I would allow myself to enjoy the delicious & devious foods that everyone around me indulged in. Well, it took awhile, but that lifestyle caught up with me and plonked extra pounds on my middle that I am not willing to live with. So here I am back to healthy eating and moving my body more. Yay!
Also, this month is my husband's 40th birthday and I so badly want to celebrate it, but he insists on me not bothering about a party. Do you think he is being modest and secretly wants one? I think we need to celebrate--this is a milestone! A pillar of life, a marker in the path of his journey. I believe in celebrating that stuff! So I don't know what to do. He said he wants to go out on our boat for the day to a place he enjoys, so we will do that, but I also think I will plan a special dinner in the next month to celebrate. Maybe to coincide with our fifth wedding anniversary which happens end of August.
For today, the weather has changed and cooled off, so I think my girl and I might head over to the Pacific Northwest Raptors center in North Cowichan to check out the owls, hawks, eagles and such. I am very interested in getting some shots of those fascinating birds. Also, it will be a nice break from all the water adventures we've been engaging in. On Friday we plan to head to Butchart Gardens in the capital city for some flowery inspiration. Fun, fun, fun.
Okay, I guess I have been in the bathroom long enough. Time to get back to my holiday with my girl.
Cheers! Check back soon for photos from the whole week of our adventure.

I followed Weight Watchers a couple of years ago and the point system really opened my eyes to how unhealthy (or healthy) certain items were!
ReplyDeleteThe raptor centre sound amazing ... look forward to your photos (& report ;-) xo s + gang
ReplyDeleteNew to your blog via Susan at 29 Black Street.
ReplyDeleteYour photos are wonderful, the light is the same light I experience as I am just East of V. Island on the mainland in USA, just below the Canadian border.
Enjoy the summer, it is hard won in this part of the world.
I will continue to check in and enjoy your writings and photos, and thanks for sharing.
