Today is the birthday a very special lady and I am gearing up with roasted squash and broccoli and a blog post to celebrate her.
Let me tell you about my friend Carlene.
She is a bit of a firecracker.
She's (one of) the most sarcastic woman I know.
When she starts in about the things that piss her off, oh man! I can't help it. She is too awesome and hilarious that I pretty much pee my pants.
And that's the kind of laughter that makes the world spin on its axis. True fact.
When she's in her comfort zone, she is amazing, loose and loud. Free to be herself and full of funny + fun. She likes to have a good time. She likes to enjoy her friends and her HBO shows and post super hilarious things on Facebook. She is tall, gorgeous, and sports a short hair-do better than most women. She is kind, helpful, supportive, and always willing to hang out.
Oh, and did I mention? She is an AMAZING mother to Hailey who is so super cute. And even cuter when she starts giving her mom the "what-for!" and the "how-to!"-tude. (She is SOOO her mother's daughter).
Carlene and I have been friends since grade nine. We are part of a group of lady-friends who have known each other for a LONG-ASS TIME...(no, I will not be throwing down any numbers here.) But let's just say this: This whole group of us are turning 35-years-old this year, and you know, that's kinda like a milestone. A bit hard to take, but maybe just a little exciting too? We are still young and goofy at heart, but mature enough to have been through a million heart aches, feuds, falling outs, moves-out-of-town, moves-back-to-town, babies, loss, love, marriage,
Carlene and I fell out of friendship years ago, for quite awhile. The reason that happened holds no significance any longer and we made our way back to each other at a time when it mattered. She's been going through a very difficult time in her life for the past two-and-a-half-years. Things fell apart in big ways and as friends do, I found myself connecting with her again, to offer support, love and friendship. And now, since our friend Tricia has lost her Kyle, we are all back together again. Carlene has been an AMAZING, FANTASTIC, SUPERCALAFRAGALISTIC kind of help for Trishy. You see, she knows all about losing the love of your life and what that looks like when you are expected to still be part of the real world. You know, the world that keeps going, even when your whole world has just crashed and burned all around you. She knows what that's like and she has been there IN A SUPER HERO KIND OF WAY to help Trish through this time and all of us have now re-connected after a LONG-ASS time of not being connected and although it is under THE WORST CIRCUMSTANCES, still the Universe has brought us back and we are rock solid. It's totally that thing, you know, how you can go years without talking and then pick it back up as if you never lost any time or any ground. AWESOME.
So hey! Can I get a woot! woot!
One of my besties is turning a SUPER AWESOME 35 years today and she is going to ROCK THIS YEAR like it was made for her.
'Cause it was.
It was made for all of us.
'Cause 2011 was a real bitch of a year, and although we all like to be bitches from time to time, we SO can do better than you did 2011. We are all going long and strong together forever in 2012 BABY!
Happy Birthday Car. Love you lady. Thanks for all the good memories, and here's to a new year of more!
*As a side note, I just realized I should have also called this post the post wherein I also use CAP LOCKS WAY TOO MUCH and where I allow myself the awkward luxury of using really poor grammar. Hey, that's how I roll (every so often).
Cheers.

Woot Woot!! Ya Woo Bitches!!!!!
