Elton. Color mapping.
Hey there. Please meet Elton. He is an owl from the Pacific Northwest Raptors Center in the Cowichan Valley, Vancouver Island, B.C. I took my girl there this summer and shot the above snap of him.
Yesterday I sketched his portrait in acrylic paint. I call this phase color mapping. When black, white, & grey tones are added, I glaze color on top. It's a teeny tiny canvas I'm painting for an upcoming art show called "Teeny Tiny Art". (November 2012)
Elton is a handsome and quiet guy who sat ever so sleepily while my girl and I reveled in his glorious presence. He's the epitome of the wise, ancient bird living on a higher plane of knowledge and life, emitting calm vibes throughout the atmosphere. I loved that about him
Owls have been on my heart & soul radar since I was about 6 years old. I recall driving through the backwoods & boggy lands of southern Alberta where I grew up, and coming across a snowy owl on a post. I remember looking eyes with him and feeling a connecting silence between us two. It was the most profound encounter with wildlife for me. So serene.
Elton and I are slowly getting to know each other on the canvas and it looks to be blossoming into a lovely mentorship. I am most grateful to be under his sweet tutelage.
Please join he and I as our bond strengthens. We'd be honored.
